The Anatomisch-Pathologische Sammlung Malerei [Anatomical-Pathological Painting Collection]
Manifest by Christian Frosch, 1997
Since the foundation of the Anatomisch-Pathologische Sammlung Malerei in the year 1997, the research of painting in Germany once again has a center for reality studies and scientific documentation!
At the end of the 20th century, collecting, maintaining and archiving real witnesses of painting is part of the most important tasks of painting research. The Anatomisch-Pathologische Sammlung Malerei is the only institution of its kind in Germany linking the function of a subject archive with art historic tasks.
The Anatomisch-Pathologische Sammlung Malerei documents and establishes the position of painting in the late 20th century. It consists of an archive of at present approximately 250 glass jars in which representative objects – from the areas of origin, publication, reception and marketing of painting – are conserved for the purpose of painting research. |
