Ottmar Hörl – Sculpture as organizational principle Under the overall term "Plastik als Organisationsprinzip" [sculpture as organizational principle] (Hörl) comes a body of sculptural work using different materials and techniques which especially reflect systems of social order; sculptures and three-dimensional still-lives, for which Hörl has since 1985 mainly used industrial prefabricated components; and stenciled drawings and objects. With his concepts for photographs which are related to specific spaces (since 1983) and his acoustic installations (e.g. "Car Flying" and "Europäische Singvögel" [European songbird] 1992, "Zeichnung" [drawing] 1997) Hörl is already extending the term "sculpture" in his creative process, which is related to time and perception. Within the context of the principle of the serial montage, Ottmar Hörl has since the start of the 90s produced around 70 multiple objects, including the edition with the largest dissemination of a contemporary work of art so far ("Unschuld" [purity] 1997).
