The portrait pin appeared at the "Irene Andessner - Frauen zu Salzburg" [Women of Salzburg (but ironically avoiding the noble von)] exhibition which ran during the 1999 Salzburg Festival in the Museum Carolino Augusteum. For this exhibition the artist re-presented self-portraits after historical portraits of famous Salzburg woman: Mozart’s widow Constanze, Mozart’s sister Nannerl, "Hundsgräfin" [hound countess] Emilia Viktoria Kraus, painter Barbara Krafft and empress Caroline Auguste. As widow of Emperor Franz I the Habsburg empress lived mainly in Salzburg, where she was highly popular on account of her social involvement.
