Two self-portraits "Gwen John", created 97 years apart: the one, painted by Gwen John - the friend of Rodin and Rilke - in 1900, hangs in the National Gallery, London. The other, re-created in 1997 by Irene Andessner, can be found in the Wolfgang Gurlitt Museum, Linz.
The seat, armrest and headrest of the chair are composed of three picture segments from the portrait. The parts consist of slides sealed in Plexiglas, edged with a steel frame construction.
